Bio:
Chobe Bakwena Camp is located between Kasane and Kazungula and is a great option for those looking to explore Chobe National Park and also for a place with more soul and character than the larger, international style hotels to be found in Kasane. Have a look at our Victoria Falls and Okavango Delta Explorer Holiday for an idea of a trip including Chobe Bakwena, that combines Chobe Bakwena with Gomoti Plains Camp and Ilala Lodge.
Chobe Bakwena Camp is one of the few owner-run lodges in the region and with a tranquil location on the banks of the Chobe River and nestled among the riverine vegtation and trees it feels a world away for the hustle and bustle of Kasane.
The lodge has 15 room types in several categories, the entry level rooms are either the treetop or riverine chalets. We can't quite decide which one we prefer more, the treetop chalets are set back from the river and of a treehouse style, up in the trees and great for birdwatching. Whereas the riverine chalets as the name suggests are right on the banks of the Chobe. There is also a spacious family villa and a plush honeymoon villa which is an upgraded riverine chalet.
It is around 30 minutes to the entry to Chobe National Park from here, so be prepared for that on your game drives and boat cruises. We think the secluded location is well worth it.
The lodge has strong community links and along with your standard safari activities you can take a walking or cycling tour around the local community.
Another special activity from Chobe Bakwena is being able to visit the point where four countries meet, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe, which is just 1.5km upstream.
