Bio:
Deteema Springs Camp is an authentic safari camp located in Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. It is part of one of favourite great-value, specialist operators in Southern Africa, that also includes Verney's Camp also in Hwange as well as Gomoti Plains in the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
Renowned for its prime location and exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities, this camp offers guests an immersive and intimate experience in the northern region of one of the Africa's premier national park, close to the Deteema Dam.
The more regularly visited southern realms of Hwange are dominated by flat ground, open pans and stands of teak forest, whereas the northern section of the park, around Deteema, is more rugged with undulating terrain, stark granite boulders, mopane trees and far fewer camps. This area is particularly known for its abundant wildlife, which frequents the waterholes, especially during the dry season. The camp’s location ensures guests have front-row seats to some of the best game viewing in the park.
The camp offers well-appointed tented suites that are designed to provide comfort while maintaining a strong connection to the natural surroundings. Each tent features modern amenities, including en-suite bathrooms, hot showers, and private verandas that overlook the stunning landscape and an active waterhole in front of camp that is particularly popular in the peak of the dry season (August to October).
Zimbabwe is well-known for having some of the best guides in Africa, due to its rigorous guide training regime. Along with morning and afternoon game drives, we'd thoroughly recommend getting out on foot with these expert guides to approach big game should the opportunity arise and learn about some of the smaller things you normally miss from a safari vehicle.
