Bio:
Tucked away in the riverine vegetation of the iconic Kavango River you will find the subtle RiverDance Lodge. It is small lodge with just seven bungalow rooms built on platforms and scattered among the forest, giving the feeling of being among the tree canopy. However, it is river here which takes centre stage.
The Kavango is the life-giving river which passes through Namibia from Angola on its way to Botswana, where it branches out to become the world-famous Okavango Delta. To sense the journey and the impact this water source has on the wildlife, tourism and livelihoods is quite something and we thoroughly recommend getting to know the river a bit more intimately during your time at RiverDance. Explore on a sunrise or sunset motor-boat trip or perhaps see whats under the surface with a rod and reel.
On land, the lodge runs game drives to both the Mahango and the Buffalo Core Area of the Bwabwata National Park. Here you might complete the 'Big 5' by seeing buffalo, not found in the drier parts of Namibia. Some hiking and biking tours are also available if you feel like stretching your legs after the drive to get here.
RiverDance has strong community links with many of the staff coming from local villages. They also run a development project called Project Meyu which aims to build a kindergarten and to drill a borehole in every local village. So far they have been able to complete this for two villages, making a significant difference to the lives of thousands of people.
